My First Blog!

Hello Internet People! (All one of you if I can persuade my girlfriend to read this). It is with great pleasure that I introduce you to my blog. Here you will find answers to all the big questions that haunt your life! Where do we come from? What's life all about? Is there a God? These are just some of the questions I won't be answering. Rather, you'll find blogs from me on such superficial topics as the evolution of technology, what it means to be a young atheist and skeptic, the impact of science on our lives, the future of the space industry, and other super geeky topics that probably aren't going to win you any points with the ladies.

This blog is more for my own personal pleasure, giving me an opportunity to rant and rave about things I care about, but if I gain one or two readers along the way, then that's great.

To begin, I thought I'd post about an important question that I feel like I'm never getting any closer to solving: What should I do with my life? I've worked in numerous industries; Information Technology, Hi-Fi and retail to name a few, but now that I find myself on the verge of looking for work again, I'm at a loss as to what I really want to do with my life. I wonder how many of us are lucky enough to know without a doubt what area they want to work in, and are able to then realise that dream. Or are the majority of you like me in that you gave up your big dreams early on in life? (Astronaut, Film Director or Porn Star in my case) and have simply wound up staying at a job that "pays ok and you can tolerate"? Maybe you even like your job a little if you're really lucky?

Of course I'd still love to pursue my creative ambitions such as photography, music, film or interstellar space travel, but apart from maybe the last option, it just doesn't seem realistic to set my sights on anything other than a "reasonable job that pays well". Oh well, I guess I can still be highly creative, entertaining, and pursue my dreams in my spare time (Or I'll probably just watch TV). K-Mart here I come...
